Tapatan – Abstract Strategy Game from Philippines

Strategy GameThis project of ours, where we are reading books with diverse multi cultural characters, has been a success so far!

While doing so we have also discovered some amazing ethnic board games.

The first game that we across was during the Asia week. It is from Philippines and is called TAPATAN, it is like the ever popular game tic-tac-toe, but more fun and challenging.

Number of Players: 2

Things needed : 6 markers ( 3 each of 2 colors), we borrow these markers from another game, SEQUENCE.

We decided to laminate the print for durability.

Objective : To be the first to get 3 in a row.

Rules : The players, after deciding who plays first, take turns in placing the markers on empty circles on the board.

Once the players have placed all 3 of their markers, they take turns to move their markers along any line to an adjoining empty circle.

No jumping over counters is allowed.

It’s a stalemate if one of the players has no option to move or if same moves are played 3 times in a row.

The first player to make 3 in a row is the winner!
